Prof. Anat Gafter-Gvili

Dr. Gafter-Gvili graduated with honors from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel-Aviv University. She is board certified in internal medicine and hematology and a professor of internal medicine at the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University.

Dr. Gafter-Gvili is the head of Department of Medicine A and a senior physician in hemato-oncology in the Davidoff Cancer Center of Rabin Medical Center in Petach Tikva, Israel. She carries out extensive research activities and has published many original articles and reviews in the medical literature. She had been and continues to be the principal investigator in many clinical trials. Her main research topics are infections in hematologic and oncologic immunocompromised patients, and in patients with lymphoma and anemia, as well as the metabolism of iron.

Prof. Yaakov Naparstek

Dr. Naparstek is a graduate of the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel. He is board certified in internal medicine, rheumatology and clinical immunology and allergy. Dr. Naparstek has been a research fellow and a visiting professor at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Tuft’s University, Boston, The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda and Stanford University, California.

Dr. Naparstek is a Professor of Medicine in the Hebrew University, Jerusalem and served as the Chairman of Medicine in the Hadassah University Hospital, as the Director of the Hadassah Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology Center, as well as Hadassah’s Deputy Director for Research and Academic Affairs.

Dr. Naparstek is the incumbent of the Leifferman Chair in Rheumatology. His main research interests are in the field of autoimmunity, SLE, autoimmune arthritis and type 1 diabetes, and on the development of antigen-specific therapeutic modalities and novel drug delivery systems for those diseases.

Dr. Naparstek served as the Chairman of the Board of the Israeli T-Cell Vaccination Center, and was the head and founder of the Israeli SLE Registry. He is currently the Head of the Israeli Cell Therapy and Gene Therapy Committees and a member of many other national and international committees, including the NIH Global Leaders for Precision Medicine, and the International Researchers in Advances in Targeted Therapy.

Prof. Gabriel I. Barbash, MD, MPH

 

Dr. Shlomo Berliner is a graduate of the Sackler School of Medicine at the Tel Aviv University. He is board certified in internal medicine and a professor of internal medicine at the Tel-Aviv Sackler Faculty of Medicine.

He is currently the head of the Department of Internal Medicine "E" at the Tel-Aviv Sourasky Medical Center in Tel-Aviv, Israel. Dr. Berliner has a Ph.D. in cell biology and is involved in research in several medical specialties, including atherosclerosis, thrombosis and low-grade inflammation.

Dr. Berliner was trained in blood coagulation physiology at the Scrips Clinic in San Diego, California. He has published more than 270 scientific articles in various medical fields, including his main medical interest, atherothromboinflammation.

Prof. Hanan Guzner Gur

Dr. Guzner Gur graduated with the highest honors from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel-Aviv University. He is board certified in internal medicine and Rheumatology. Dr Guzner Gur has been a 3 –year- clinical and research Fellow in Rheumatology- Immunology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, and a visiting professor at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, and the NIAMS, National Institute of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland.

Dr Guzner Gur is a clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel-Aviv University, and has served as Head of Department of Medicine and the Chairman of the Division of Medicine at the Tel Aviv Medical Center (Ichilov) for the last 16 and 7 years, respectively.

Dr Guzner Gur has published more than 100 original articles, reviews and reports in the medical literature, mainly in the fields of Immunology and Rheumatology, as well as clinical biomarkers.

Prof. Michael Lishner

Dr. Michael Lishner completed his medical studies in Tel Aviv University. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Hematology. He is the head of the Department of Medicine and of the Oncogenetic Laboratory in Meir Medical Center.

Dr. Lishner is involved medical research and published over 250 articles in leading journals. He also presented his work in national and international medical conferences.

His research focuses in 2 main topics:

  • Malignant hematological diseases and the interaction between the malignant cells and the microenvironment.
  • The mutual influence of malignant disease and pregnancy and the treatment of pregnant women with neoplastic diseases.

Dr. Lishner was also involved in many international clinical studies on anticoagulant treatment of patients with atrial fibrillation and venous thromboembolism. These studies led to the current widespread treatment of these patients with the new oral anticoagulants (NOAC's).

Prof. Avital Fast

Dr Avital Fast graduated from Hadassah Medical School and then became a resident at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He Obtained his certification as a specialist in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in the US and then in Israel. As a physiatrist (specialist in Rehabilitation Medicine) he sees patients with neurological and orthopedic problems. He was awarded the prize of “Clinician of the Year” in the US. His clinical expertise deals with the diagnosis and management of spinal and neurological diseases and their management.

Most of Dr. Fast research and publications concentrate on diagnosis and management of spinal conditions. His publications deal primarily with spinal conditions in the elderly and low back problems during and after pregnancy. He co-authored two books, one on alternative medicine and one on imaging of the spine. Dr. Fast is Professor Emeritus of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and visiting professor at the Sackler Medical shcool. He is a member of the national rehabilitation council in Israel.

Prof. Moshe Mittelman

Dr. Mittelman graduated the Sackler Faculty of Medicine, Tel Aviv University, continued with internal medicine residence and moved to the US, to attend the joint Hematology-Oncology fellowship program of the George Washington University Medical Center and the National Institutes of Health. Since 2003 he is the Director, Department of Medicine and a hematology consultant at the Tel Aviv Sourasky (Ichilov) Medical Center. He served as the Chairman of Medicine during the years 2005-2008. He currently serves as a Professor of Medicine, at the Tel Aviv University; President, The Israel Society of Hematology; and a Board member, The Israel Cancer Association.

Dr. Mittelman leads a research team, investigating various aspects of the immune system-cancer interaction, focusing on blood malignancies, including translational and basic research as well clinical trials with novel drugs. He is a member of world leading international research groups, partner of prestigious research European grants, commonly invited speaker in international forums and has published more than 200 research papers and book chapters.

Pediatricians

Prof. Liora Harel

Dr. liora Harel is a graduate of the Faculty of Medicine in the Technion, Haifa, Israel

She is board certified in both Pediatrics and Rheumatology. She has completed a fellowship program in Pediatric Rheumatology at the University of Chicago USA.

Dr. Harel is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel Aviv University. She was awarded for excellence in teaching in 2004.

She has been a visiting professor at Stanford University, California.

Dr. Harel is the head of the Pediatric Rheumatology Unit at Schneider Children’s Medical Center of Israel. Dr. Harel is the Head of the Israeli Society of Pediatric Rheumatology.

Dr. Harel has published more than 80 original papers in leading journals in Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology and has written chapters in books .She is a reviewer for the Pediatric Rheumatology Journal. She has been and is currently engaged in clinical trials.

Prof. Asher Tal

Dr. Asher Tal is a graduate of the Medical School of the Technion Institute in Haifa. He is board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology. Dr. Tal is a Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics in the Faculty of Health Sciences, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, Beer-Sheva. Following his fellowship in Winnipeg, Canada, he established the Pediatric Pulmonology Unit and the Pediatric Sleep Laboratory at Soroka University Medical Center. He was the Head of Pediatric Department , Chairman of the Pediatric Division at Soroka, and Chairman of the Israeli Society of Pediatric Pulmonology.

Dr. Tal research interests include childhood asthma, bronchiolitis and wheezing in infancy, sleep-disordered breathing, pediatric and adult obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and insomnia. He authored or co-authored over 100 publications. Recently, Dr. Tal's research involves with various new therapies for bronchiolitis and cystic fibrosis, as well as new devices for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep problems in children and adults.

Prof. Jacob Amir

Dr. Amir is a graduate of the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical School in Jerusalem, Israel. He is board certified in pediatric and infectious diseases and was a professor of Pediatrics at the Sackler faculty of medicine, Tel-Aviv University.

Dr. Amir was the head of pediatric department in the Schneider Children's Medical Center of Israel in Petach-Tikva between from 1998 to 2015.

Dr. Amir trained in pediatric infectious diseases at the Children's Hospital, Washington University in St. Louis Missouri.

He has published more than 170 scientific articles, mainly in the field of infectious diseases in infant and children.
